James Hendrix Jr., M.D. founded the practice now known as The Clinic of Plastic Surgery almost 50 years ago. The first plastic surgeon in the state, Dr. Hendrix paved the way for one of the most outstanding cosmetic and reconstructive surgical practices in the country. The tradition was continued by his partners, Dr. Heber C. Ethridge and Dr. Douglas Godfrey, who incorporated the clinic as Jackson Plastic Surgery Clinic, P.A. in 1972.

"Each of our surgeons has over 20 years of experience in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery," says Robert Allen Smith, M.D. "This, along with our commitment to stay abreast of the latest procedures and technology, is of great benefit for our patients." Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast augmentation and reduction, liposuction, eyelid surgery, facelift and laser skin resurfacing are just a few of the surgical procedures performed at the clinic.

"Papillon, our skin care boutique located within the office complex is one of the few supervised by a registered nurse and an on-site physician," says William O.B. Thompson, M.D. Some of the nonsurgical procedures offered include laser hair removal, collagen injections, lip enhancements, permanent makeup/tatooing and spider vein treatment. A licensed aesthetician is on staff to perform Parisian peels, a form of microdermabrasion, and chemical peels to reveal healthier, younger looking skin. "The product lines we se are pH balanced and concentrated strengths which are available only b prescription," says Dr. Thompson.
Looking Your Best
With the baby-boom generation coming of age, the Clinic's expertise and experience in operations such as facelifts, eyelid surgery and laser resurfacing are in great demand. "Resurfacing procedures for the face have been around for may years," says Dr. Smith. "In the last 10 years, we have instituted safer ways of resurfacing the face through the use of carbon dioxide lasers. they're more exact, resulting in less redness and hyperpigmentation." Performed on an outpatient basis, recovery time is generally two weeks.
The surgeons at The Clinic of Plastic Surgery are board certified by the American Board of Plastic surgery and are members of the American society of Plastic Surgeons.
